Facebook Groups in Sweden Constructing Sustainability: Resisting Hegemonic Anthropocentrism

This article examines how Facebook groups in Sweden, that focus on the environment, address issues of sustainability. The research, conducted over a one-year period (May 2019–April 2020) combines mapping analysis, which identified population 152 environment-focused groups, and quantitative content gives overview these represent sustainability human-nature relations. analysis pointed to an overwhelming support for counterhegemonic, ecocentric positions, coupled with strong critique against hegemony anthropocentrism. These findings relate general discussion concerning potential social media function as spaces where hegemonies are contested vision change, this case about takes shape, but also limitations such possibilities.
